Leduc makes strong commitment to downtown revitalization (PDF)
Leduc’s Downtown Master Plan received final approval from city council, Jan. 23, 2012. The master plan addresses key economic, environmental and social issues for a holistic approach to downtown revitalization. The document outlines an in-depth urban design, along with guidelines, policies and strategies to support a vibrant and sustainable downtown neighbourhood.
City of Leduc and Leduc County approve Intermunicipal Development Plan (PDF)
Earlier today Leduc County council gave final reading to a bylaw approving the City of Leduc-Leduc County Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP); City of Leduc approved the plan on November 28.
The IDP will allow both municipalities to oversee and guide development and growth for specific land areas of shared interest along their common boundary. The IDP is based on five guiding principles to ensure a sustainable Leduc region: smart growth, creating vibrant communities, environmental stewardship, economic development, and responsible governance.
County to increase funding for joint fire protection with airport (PDF)
Under the amended agreement, in 2012 Leduc County will contribute $1,663,187 to the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) to cover the costs associated with having three full-time fire fighters per shift ( for a total of 12 firefighters) at the EIA fire hall, who are designated for non-aircraft related duties. Under the most recent agreement, Leduc County was funding two full-time positions per shift at the airport.
